The Negative Supply Pro Film Carrier 35 MK2 is a professional tool that can scan all 35mm film formats, including half frame, full frame (standard 35mm) and panoramic formats in a single shot with maximum film flatness. With its smooth-running bearings, solid CNC-machined construction and a range of thoughtful and modular accessories, the Pro Film Carrier 35 MK2 is the ultimate tool for scanning 35mm film. Compared to the previous version of the Pro Film Carrier 35, this MK2 also includes interchangeable rollers which allows you to use custom rollers for special formats such as 110 film and 8mm film. This allows you to use the roller mechanism also for these special formats which was not possible before. With the exception of the adapter plates for Light Sources, all existing accessories in the scanning system are also compatible with this MK2.
The Pro Film Carrier 35 MK2 represents the next generation of 35mm film carriers for film scanning with a digital camera and is the successor of the Film Carrier 35 MK1. For the further development of the 35mm Film Carrier, Negative Supply started with the Film Carrier MK1 and sought to improve it based upon feedback from customers and many years of in-house use. The Pro Film Carrier 35 has gone through the most extensive R&D process in Negative Supply history with ideation beginning in 2020. This led to a number of new features and improvements. A common request was an adjustable tensioner in the scanning cassette so that your film doesn’t “drift” when you’re advancing film through the carrier. This is preset during product evaluation during the assembly process. This makes auto adjustments in post processing much faster and provides pro-level consistency frame to frame. Another feature request was the support for panoramic and half frame formats. The Pro Film Carrier 35 now supports half frame and panoramic 35mm formats (alongside the standard 35mm format in an all in one device with no compromises.
Just like its predecessor, this Film Carrier allows you to speed up the capturing process of your camera scanning workflow and delivers the best digital copies of your 35mm film memories. After placing the carrier over a separately purchased light source, this device lets you precisely center each frame on a roll of 35mm film, so you can photograph it with a digital camera, making this unit a quick and easy way to scan rolls of film. Bearings provide smooth and even pressure while the tensioners hold the guide wheels securely in place and prevent damaging delicate film stocks. The most important part of the unit is the high-quality stainless steel drive mechanism that lets you capture each frame quickly and efficiently. All the while keeping your film flat to ensure optimal sharpness.
The Pro Film Carrier 35 MK2 allows you to scan full uncut rolls of 35mm film or cut strips as short as 5 frames in no time. Full rolles can be scanned under 2 minutes.
Next to a digital camera and the Pro Film Carrier 35, you'll also need a tripod or copy stand to perfectly position the camera above the film negative. Also a light source is needed to illuminate your film negatives to capture every detail of your photographs. For this you can use a tablet, one of the Slimlite light boxes from Kaiser and for the best results a high-quality light source with a high CRI. Like the rest of the Pro tools, the Pro Film Carrier 35 is designed to work seamlessly with tools such as the Pro Riser and Pro Mount MK2 with the correct adapter.
