Write the first reviewFerrania P30 is a 120 panchromatic black-and-white negative film based on the legendary motion picture film stock P30 made by the Italian manufacturer Ferrania during the 60's. It features a nominal film speed of ISO 80 and has a very high silver content which makes it a high-contrast film with almost no visible grain. Shadows are deep and rich. Highlights are punchy and sharp. Best practices for processing this film can be found here.
Film Ferrania was a well-known Italian brand of cinema film stocks and film stocks for still photography, both black-and-white and color. After many years of serving the industry, they ceased production of all film stocks in 2010. The company was brought back to life in 2013 as the brand name and all manufacturing equipment was acquired by a small company with a dedicated team which main goal is to bring back several of the well-known Ferrania film stocks.
Thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2014 they raised enough money to restart some of the production lines which eventually lead to the first (re)release of the P30 black-and-white negative films. A newly manufactured film made in the rebuilt factory on the grounds of the original production site in Cairo Montenotte, Italy. As the team makes further progress in restarting the production lines and finding the right raw materials, more film stocks will go (back) in production the coming years.
