Write the first reviewAmaloco AM 2002 ExtraBromax is a neutral tone paper developer suitable for all types of black-and-white photographic papers. In comparison with its predecessor, the formula of the AM 2002 ExtraBromax is even more powerful, shortening the necessary development time and ensuring that the paper has the optimum development time when following the specified times. The maximum blacking was further increased, but the image tone has generally become somewhat cooler. Moreover, the components from which the paper developer was manufactured are also less harmful to the environment, unlike the previous version of the AM 2002 from Amaloco.
The paper developer delivers unique results in combination with Ilford's Multigrade RC photo papers when the paper is exposed 25% longer than usual and half degree contrast filter more is used. The result is reminiscent of prints with older types of black-and-white photo papers produced in Germany (Agfa & Orwo).
The standard dilution for AM 2002 ExtraBromax is 1+9. The development time for RC paper is 1 minute, for barite paper 1.5 minutes at 20 °C.
When full use is made of ExtraBromax, it is advisable to experimentally extend the development time during the course of use. When full use is made of ExtraBromax, the development time should be extended by 0.5 - 1 minute halfway through the use of the developer. In ExtraBromax it is also possible to develop at higher temperatures without problems. At 24°C the development time for RC papers is 45 seconds and at 30°C 30 seconds.
The ideal storage temperature is between 10 and 20 °C. As with any other photochemistry, the shelf life of opened concentrates largely depends on the extent to which the chemistry is exposed to oxygen. The use of airtight bottles and/or an anti-oxidation spray is therefore recommended for maximum utilization. Used concentrate can be kept in a semi-filled bottle for a maximum of 8 weeks without loss of quality. The maximum capacity per litre of usage solution is 4-5 m².
