Kentmere VC Select is a series of resin-coated, variabel-contrast, black-and-white photographic paper launched by Harman specifically for students and hobby photographers as a cheaper alternative to Ilford photo papers.
VC Select is a high-quality analog photographic paper featuring a bright white resin-coated base (polyethylene) and delivering smooth, even tones which results in cool, crisp, sparkling photo prints.
It prints about one stop faster than most other papers, saving approximately half the printing time. VC Select is compatible with contrast filters grades 00 to 5 and most common safelights with variable-contrast filter. It also responds well to various toning processes.
Kentmere VC Select is available in two finishes, each having its own characteristics. The glossy version has a built-in glaze to provide the maximum black density and overall print brilliance.
Maximum gloss is achieved through hot air drying. The Fine Lustre version provides an attractively textured surface which combines the depth of image and blacks normally only
found with glossy papers, with the subtlety and handling advantages of a semi-matt photo paper.
