In the spotlight: Film Ferrania
Film Ferrania, an Italian manufacturer of black-and-white and color films for both cinema and photography, was a well-known name in the second half of the previous century. After serving the industry for many years, the company ceased production of all film stocks in 2010, and their products disappeared from the market. Fortunately, in 2013, the company was revived. A dedicated team acquired the brand name and all production equipment, with the ambitious dream of reintroducing the most famous Ferrania film stocks.
Thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2014, they raised enough funds to restart some of the old production lines. This led to the (re)introduction of the P30 black-and-white negative films, now produced in a newly rebuilt factory on the site of the original production location in Cairo Montenotte, Italy. As the team continues to ramp up production lines and source the right materials, more film stocks will (re)enter production in the coming years. The Orto and P33 black-and-white films have already joined the product lineup.
